November 29, 2016 • admin

These days, people tend to buy off classical jewelries at some Online Jewelry Auction. But did you know that the most classical jewelries up to these days are the jewelries produced during the Hellenistic Era. The reason for this is because the Hellenistic Era has produced tons of very detailed, intricate and the most elaborated jewelry in the greek world or even in the world.

The gold Greek jewelries were actually almost never worn and were just used for the public appearances or just on special occasions. Most of the time, even during the Greek era, Greek jewelries are given as a gift and pretty much worn by woman to show off their social status, beauty and wealth. The older pieces of the gold Jewelries that where found today were actually dedicated to the Gods. The largest production of the Gold Greek Jewelry during these times were said to have came from the Northern Greece and Macedon. Though it might have been said and pretty imminent that the use of Gold and silver with some ivory and gems were made as jewelries before, some said that bronze and clay copies were made as well.

These days, the jewelries from the Jewelry Online Auctions are made of gold and have lots of different stones. But during the earlier Greek Era, jewelries are made of beads shaped as a shell and animals, it was only around 1,400 B.C. when they started using gold and jems in the jewelries. And when the 300 B.C. arrived, the Greeks are already experts in jewelry making of colored gold jewelries using the materials such as emerald, pearls and amethysts. At this point in time, the first sightings of the cameos are believed to have appeared during this time. It is said that the greeks created them using the Indian Sardonyx which is a stone with a striped brown pink and cream agate.

The roots of classicism are way back the ancient Greek and Roman Architecture. This architectural style comprises of the wide range of conventional forms and notably columns which are known as the orders. Each of them are fixed with the proportions and ornaments such as Ionic, Corinthian and Doric. The main characteristics of Classism are the proportion and the symetry. The Classical solely in the proportion, however none of the trapings are actually in relations with the Classical architecture.

Classicism was once again put into revival with the known architectural style Neo Classical. Neo Classical actually began from the 18th Century in France, when the architects began to study the classical buildings instead of derivatives or the Renaissance samples. There was a huge interest from people in the archaeology and antiquarianism during the 18th century because of the excavations at Pompeii and Herculaneum and adding to it is the rediscovery of the ancient Greece’s architecture.

Another Classics: The Most Famous Classical Painting

November 3, 2016 • admin

Classical Painting is definitely a thing not only back in the day but even until today.  But are you aware of the most famous Classical Painting of all time? The answer is Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci.

Why is it considered the most famous Classical Painting? Well for one, even the non classical painting enthusiasts are actually aware how Mona Lisa look like. The painting of Mona Lisa, also called La Gioconda in Italian and La Joconde in French, is a just a half length portrait of a women which was painted by the world renowned Italian Renaissance artist, Leonardo da Vinci. The Mona Lisa painting was dubbed as the best known, the most visited, the most sung about, the most parodied and the most written about painting of all time in the world.

A little background about the Mona Lisa painting, the title of the painting Mona Lisa actually comes with a portrait description written by the Renaissance Art Historian Giorgio Vasari. He wrote the description, ‘Leonardo undertook to paint, for Francesco del Giocondo, the portrait of Mona Lisa, his wife’. This is when Madonna came about which is just a contraction of the word Mona. Traditionally, the title of the painting is Mona probably because Vasari used it, but in actuality, the painting is also commonly spelled in the modern Italian era as Monna Lisa which is a rare instance in the English language.

It is said that Leonardo da Vinci started working on the painting of Monal Lisa in the year 1503 or 1504 in the province of Florence, Italy. Louvre states though that is was undeniable that the painting was started in the year 1503 to 1506. Famous Art Historian Martin Kemp said that there a lots of confusion in confirming the date it was started because for one, no one can ask Leonardo da Vinci about it anymore. Unfortunately, as noted by Leonardo da Vinci’s contempory Giorgio Vasari, Leonardo has lingered on this painting for about 4 years and yet he did not finish the painting in the end. Leonardo has come to realize later on that he wasted his time and regretted not even able to finish a single painting.
